Wordless Wednesday.

Weekend Trip to Atlanta:

So cold and our only source of warmth was napkins...
 ...and that didn't last...

We discovered Ikea is the GREATEST store of all time!!

 Sweet babies

Summer Weddings.

I recently found this candle holder that Matthew got me when we first started dating!! In two short weeks it is our 4 year anniversary!! It seems like just yesterday he was leaving every weekend for golf tournaments and would come back home with a surpise for Jack and I! I hated those days but I suurreeee do miss them also because I do LOVE surprises!

Tomorrow is Annie's birthday!! I know that some girls are "Daddy's girls" but I am probably the world's biggest "Mommy's girl!!" I am so thankful for everything she has taught me and for helping me become the person I am today. She is so supportive and would move mountains to help my brothers, sister, and I. I am so proud to call her my bestest friend in the whole entire world and I wish that every girl could experience the kind of relationship I have with my mom!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNIE!!!
You don't look a day over 20!

So much for wordless Wednesday!...

Quick Fix Earring Stand.

Lately I find myself becoming more and more frustrated with the fact that all my earrings are just getting thrown in a pile instead of hung in a particular spot where they are easy to find and where it doesn't take up minutes of my time untangling while I am trying to hurry and get ready in the mornings.

I have been thinking and thinking for weeks on something so simple that I could do to hang all my earrings on and while searching online one day I came across exactly what I needed.
For this project all the supplies you need are:

-Cheese grater (Yes you heard it right)
-Spray Paint
-4 Mug hooks (I call them ceiling hooks)
-4 Wooden Beads
-Hot Glue Gun

Simply spray paint your cheese grater in the any color you choose. I sprayed about 4 coats on the outside and only one on the inside and it took about 15 minutes since it is so hot outside the paint drys very quickly.

After spray painting I simply took my hot glue gun and glued the "mud hooks" facing outward on all four corners of the bottom of the grater.

It does not matter how messy your glue looks as long as it is sturdy since no one will be able to see this part of your jewelry holder.

Next you simply slide on a wood bead (or two) on the hooks. You may glue your hooks also for a better hold however I did not and it seems to work just fine!

This is literally what I like to call a "10 minute, 10 dollar design!" Here is the finished holder!

What did you do that was crafty this week??

Collegiate Onesie.

I am just going to give you all a quick run down on a simple but extremely cute baby gift that literally only takes about 30 minutes!

First of all, I want to state that in No Way am I an Alabama fan because if I do not make that very clear then I will be single by the end of this post! It is strictly LSU in this house!

A couple of months ago I appliqued some cute onesies for a friend of mine at work and she recently asked me if I would do one more so I figured why not make a blog post out of it also!!

All you need is:
-Onesie
-Fabric
-Stablizer
-Coordinating Thread
-Button
-Sewing Machine

Since the onesie I made is obviously for an Alabama fan I chose to do an elephant. I simply googled elephant templates, found the one I liked, and printed it out.

Turn your fabric to the wrong side facing up, place your template on the fabric and trace around it with a fabric mark-b-gone pen

This part of my tutorial is a little wrong as you will see later on I meant to face my template in the opposite direction of how I want it facing on the front of the onesie...So make sure you don't forget to do this! It is very important!

Here is where the stabilzer comes in and if you don't know what I am talking about don't worry, I took a picture for you!

You can find this at any fabric store and the price range varies. Annie happened to buy me a never-ending supply and I saw the price tag was $60.99 and yes that's a fortune to me but will last me for a year probably! You can find stabilizer for around $10.00 or $15.00 a roll at Jo-Ann's.

Depending on how your stablizer works (mine is iron on) you use this to make your applique more sturdy and MUCH easier to sew!

It is much easier to do this step BEFORE you cut out the applique.

After you have completed these steps you are ready to pin the fabric on your onesie (make sure you don't pin the front and back of the onesie together this could be very bad when you start to sew!!)

Now it's time to sew!!! The easiest part! Set your machine on the zig-zag setting and this is more to your preference of how you would like the width and length of the stitch. For me, I choose the largest number for the width and the smallest for the length!

This is where I get to show you my Machine!!! My Christmas present from Annie!! We got matching ones and I love it so much and it's so fancy and easy to use!! I strongly suggest buying this machine if you are in the market for a new sewing machine!

After you finish sewing simply iron over your applique one more time and then you are finished!! So cheap and cute!!

Also, I added a button for the eye of the elephant! This is just to add a little more detail. You could also do a bow with ribbon if it is for a girl!!

Charlie girl watched the whole thing from start to finish!! She is the perfect little helper and obviously likes being in my blog way more than Jack Jack!

Lovely Little Lanterns.

Ok sooo...I know I haven't been that great at keeping a regular blog schedule, but I am just getting use to this whole blog business so I get slack cut for me right?? I sure hope so...I am going to try my hardest to be better at this!!!

I haven't done anything major lately when it comes to decorating however I have painted a few small knick knacks around the house! I am going to show you a few...

First, here is my inspiration for this post!

So, I don't know if you know this or not but lanterns are all the rage in home and outdoor decor this spring & summer and I happen to LOVE them! I spotted a few in the Pottery Barn magazine that I love but with the prices ranging from 19.50 - 79.00 I could not force myself to fork up that kind of money for one little lantern!

Well, while walking through Lowe's one day browsing and waiting on my paint to get mixed I stumbled upon these two cute little things...

And the cost?? Only 4.98 for the small one and 8.98 for the larger one!!! I mean I couldn't have come across a better deal!! I love the black however, it doesn't really go with anything in my house so I decided to sand and paint, paint, paint!!! I started out with a creme color for my base coat and then applied two or three coats of white on top of that! After all the painting,  I sanded them again to add a rustic feel!

                 Here is the finished product...
You can put whatever you want in your lanterns for me I had these random small decorative balls laying around the house and decided they would add the perfect touch. Here is a closer look..
One other small project I did was re-do an ugly awful red candle stick that I had laying around and couldn't stand looking at any longer..I could have sworn I took a before picture but I cannot find it anywhere on my camera so all I can offer you is the after!

After sanding the awful red actually came back through a little bit and it actually really looked well and complimented the red that I could not paint over in the center. I am still not sure about the green candle but I have not got the chance to purchase a new one or decided on a color.

The end of my post I want to dedicate to one of my very best friend's 24th birthday celebration!!
I love my group of friends more than anything in this world and when we get together it is always such a good time!

The bestie/birthday girl and I.

The cute boy that sat across the table from me.

Besties.

My little mini-me.

Matthew and I.

The ride home is always my favorite part....

I hope you all had as good of a weekend as I did!!!

Memorial Memories.

Since this past weekend was Memorial Day weekend I definately did not spend it blogging!! I spent it exactly where I was suppose to be...the lake!! Being on the water means one thing and one thing only....SUMMER!!!! Only, since I am no longer a college student then I no longer get a break so on three day weekends like this one I have to take in every moment I can of the sunshine!!!

Heaven on Earth!!

Since my long weekend has ended......I decided I would show you a little pick me up I did last week!

I purchased this little end table for $6.00 at our local Habitat for Humanity Restore and knew as soon as I saw it that I had just the perfect little spot for it!

The color and shape it was in just wasn't doing it for me......But it was nothing that a few coats of paint couldnt't fix!!!

I sanded and then painted the table with three coats of a simple grey. This project literally took only about 1 hour since the Alabama heat turned on this past week.

Here is my little end table in its new spot with its new purpose.....Taking away anyone's eyes from Matthew's favorite, comfy chair that I do not love near as much as he does :)

The cute little coasters...a sweet customer of mine hand made them for me! I love them!

I want to spotlight the  set of  books I placed on the table....little may you know that books do not have to be purchased  just to read (although I do pride myself in being a book worm) but books also make great decorations!!!

This set of books I purchased for either $1.00 or $.50 a piece! You cannot beat getting any kind of decoration for that cheap! Do not worry about the title of the books if you are thinking about this idea...Titles do not matter you aren't going to read them remember?!...Try finding books that go with your color scheme or that add just the right pop of color you may need to brighten your room! I have come to realize that Reader's Digest Condensed Books have the cutest patterns on their covers that give that vintage feel that I love to my room!!

Reader's Digest

I hope that all of you had a Great Memorial Day and I want to give a BIG thank you to those of you who are serving or have served our country! Including my Daddy!

Charlie, on the other hand, just wants to wish you all a Good Night!!!
