Change is Good.

I've been staring at this wooden frame on my wall for quite some time now thinking about what exactly I wanted to do with it....Today was the day!.. I decided I would just start by placing an extra piece of scrap fabric in the frame....

I simply just hot-glued and stretched the fabric tight to create a cute background. Put the frame back on the wall...and decided that wasn't enough either!!

So, I dug around a little more in my scrap o' fabric drawer as I like to call it and found a huge piece of white fabric that Annie had given to me when she first bought my sewing machine for me to "practice" with. So I cut the fabric lengthwise in about two inch strips and decided I would try and make a rosette to put in the frame...

 I made one....

I didnt like it, so I made two.....

It wasn't working....so I made....

SIX!! and I LOVE it!!...

It was so simple and not to mention it was FREE!!
I love free.

It looks so cute in it's little corner by my little re-upholstered chair and Salvation Army bird cage!

While I was working on my crafts Matthew came home from work telling me he got something new today...I was thinking great! It could be something we really need (having no clue what we "really" need) I walk outside to find this....

Nothing we can use for the house......

It's a good thing he deserves a new pair of clubs because he literally works harder than anyone I have ever met in my life....So I guess he gets to play hard also!

I hope that everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend!
Enjoy the Sunshine!!

Shop and Sew....

....That's exactly what  I did this weekend...

Friday night Matthew and I went on a little date to see the new movie The Bridesmaids! I must say it is a pretty cute movie and Matthew actually thought it was alright also!! If you are looking for a good movie to see to spend some Q-time with your guy I suggest you check it out!!

Saturday Matthew went the guys to Tunica to have a little fun...So, what else do I do when my boyfriend is away??? Go to Bridgestreet with my Mom and play!!!!

I am usually not a huge fan of The Gap but lately everytime I shop I find myself in there finding so many things that I fall in love with!! Annie really racked up on new things to add to her closet in Gap while we also grabbed a new pair of white pants that we have been dying to have as a staple item in our wardrobe for this Spring and Summer!

Anthroplogie was having an awesome sale this weekend! I love when I walk in and see the $19.95, $39.95, & $49.95 racks staring me right in my face like we were put here just because we knew you were coming!! Of course I can't forget the ever so lovely Forever 21!
(please do excuse the no make-up)

I love taking Jackson and Charlie home to my parents' because they get the chance to run around in their HUGE back yard since we don't have a fence in the house we live in! Spending time with my family makes my heart smile! I have three brothers and a sister and all but two of us live in totally different places so when I get to see atleast one sibling it's as if the other four aren't that far away!
Jack Jack hanging out with his Uncle William

Today when I got home I sat down to watch TV looked over at my couch and thought "I reallllllyyyy need some new throw pillows to hide the ugly couch we have" The throw pillows that I was looking at only made the couch worse since they were old also! I am not a huge fan of Jo-Ann's but since my favorite fabric store is closed on Sunday's then Jo-Ann's it was. Once, I get my mind on a project there is no stopping me. So que the pictorial!!!!

Here is what the old throw pillows on the couch looked like....Before:

He would not budge.

Cute fabric I chose.

I simply just re-covered my old pillows to save on having to buy all the supplies and start from scratch! Here is the after:

I forgot to mention two of the pillows are reversable!!

The price to cover all 5 pillows was only $50.00!!!

This weekend was filled with the Boyfriend, Family, Shopping, Sewing and oh so much fun!! I do not want it to end.......because tomorrow it's back to work!

I leave you with the cutest little girl I know...

Paint It New

Today I had to stay home sick from work because yesterday I came down with the stomach virus. This is not the first time I have had to deal with this icky bug this year....or the second....its the THIRD...you heard it...the third time I have had the stomach bug this year!! If there is one thing in this world I HATE more than anything it is being nauseous!

Matthew had to go to Birmingham today for a work meeting so sadly he couldn't be here to bring me soup, crackers, sprite, and listen to me whine and cry alllllll day about how I don't feel good! I know that he SOOOOOO sad that he is having to miss out! However, if he had gotten to stay home I know that he would do whatever he could to try and make things better!

This afternoon I have started feeling a little better and decided I would do a little post on a simple mirror upgrade I have made this week. The pictures aren't that great but good enough for you to see how a simple paint job to a boring mirror can make it perk up it's little space on the wall!

This is the mirror before.....

Little Jackson always hanging out with his mommy...

Charlie Gracie upset she missed the first photo

I decided I wanted to paint my mirror two different colors, white and a robin's egg blue.
So, I took some masking tape and simply taped the inside of the mirror and the outward border so I would not get paint on the glass or for the two colors to mix while I am in the process of painting. Here is a picture of the inside taped off...

Next, I simply primed the whole mirror with a white coat of paint (and when I say prime I simply mean just using a white coat of acrylic paint). I used acrylic on this whole project simply because I was too lazy to run to the store and grab some paint for this project. But, it turned out great and whatever works right?!!!

Here is a shot of the first coat of white paint....

Last, all I did was paint the outward border white, the middle the blue, a little trim in the middle in white, and then the inside border the robbin's egg blue and it turned out so cute!! I ended up using about three coats of the white and of blue and actually I probably could have used four. Maybe another day I will feel like going over it but until now my new little mirror has taken it's spot back on it's wall and it looks better than ever!!! Here are a few shots of the finished product!!

Until Matthew gets home to take care of me, cuddling with these two sweet puppies will be just fine with me...

Table Of Contents.

1. Who Are We?

You would think we are called Matt & Kat by the title of this blog....Well, you're right, he is called Matt unless it is by me and I prefer to call him Matthew...

As for me, I go by Katherine always. However, to many of our friends we are simply Matt & Kat.

I am not a mushy gushy kind of person so to keep it short and simple... Matthew is the love of my life and has put up with me for the past four years and continues to love me more and more everyday! I could not imagine living life without him in it and I know that by God's grace he was put in my life to help me become a better, definately more patient, person!

2. Who Are They?

       &
                   Jack                                 Charlie

Our puppies (children). I say puppies but Jack is 4 years old and our little girl Charlie is 2. If the love for our real children one day surpasses the love we have for these two then our children will be the most protected, spoiled rotten, scared, and loved children in the whole wide world!!

3. Who is She?

This would be Krystina..My fashionista... My BFFL... My LYLAS. Besides my Mother and Matthew this girl is my other half (I guess you could say third half). She takes up for me and is there for me more than I could ever ask for! She also has her own blog which you can visit HERE. She is the one, besides a few other blogs, who inspired me to start my very own blog! Only her blog is wayyyyyy better and it has everything you need to know about what is in fashion at this very moment!

What Is That?

  &

        Refurbished Chair                           Coffee Filter Lamp

Recently my BFFL and I have jumped straight into the love of refurbishing and making new out of old. The two pictured above are our recent creations and the main reasons I started this blog. It's to show to everyone that if WE can make things like this then so can you!!!

The chair was bought for only $10.00 and the Lamp well it was already mine!! So basically everything we do is almost free and gives you the feeling that you brought something old and ugly to new and pretty!!

Side Note:

If I had pictures I would dedicate a whole blog post to my Mother!! But, getting my mother to take a picture is like getting my puppies to go outside in the rain. Impossible. However, if anyone has a friendship with their Mother like I do with mine then you are so so very lucky. There is no other love like a Mother's love and no better advice than my Mother's!!!

Disclaimer:

In no way was grammer my best subject nor will I ever be good at it! So, if you can look past all the gramatical errors then I hope you enjoy my blog and everything that I hope it has to offer to you!
