New Look.

This weekend Matthew and I went with some friends to RiverFest here in Decatur. Some of his friends play in a band called
"The Wheelers" and so we all decided to go watch!

 Riverfest.
 Friends.

Besties.

I haven't had the time to do much this week since I have started back to work after my Vacation! But I just wanted to show you all my new look for my blog. I can't keep things the same for long...it starts to look boring. So when change is needed.
Change Happens.

Wedding planning is in full force and I love it.
I am so thankful to have a wedding planner and so many people that want to help with the process.
I am actually not having to do much since this is the case and it is lovely!
This past week my mom, Krystina, Kendra and I went to
Franklin, TN and we purchased my wedding dress.
When they say you usually end up with something that you never imagined you would wear...It is sooo true!!
But I am in love with it!!
I can't wait to marry Matthew this April and to have the time of our lives with our family and friends as we celebrate!

I hope that you all have a great week!!
I plan on actually working on some projects that I have been scheming in my mind!
I can't wait to share!!

I'm Back!!

Thanks to Annie..I can blog again! I recently broke my computer and so I was blogless for all this time after I promised that I wouldn't be!

So many things have happened so I will do a quick catch up!

We had a much needed beach trip with Matthew's family that was so much fun. I absolutely love being surrounded by his family. It makes me so happy to know that I am marrying into a family that believes in being surrounding by each other and having fun all the time.

Matthew and I purchased a house in Decatur..I LOVE my house and am so happy that I am so close to Annie and Matthew's family! My sister and her family have moved to Athens from Dallas, TX AND my brother Drew is moving from Montgomery to Chicago! There are so many changes in my family right now it's crazy! But if it wasn't crazy then it wouldn't be the Davis family.

Moving into my new house is amazing because it's a whole new space that I get to decorate...although, it is so hard to make decisions about where I want everything so I know that things will probably change on a weekly or even daily basis...

One thing I have done recently is so simple you could probably do it in 5 minutes...literally.

I have had an old white window frame that I purchased months ago from Habitat for Humanity for $5.00. When I bought the frame I had no idea what I would do with it but I knew when the idea came I would be so mad at myself if I would not have made the purchase. So what did I do?? I bought it and had it sit in my garage until just the other day!

All you need is:

A frame
A wreath
Ribbon of your choice.

My idea is to have the wreath on my window change with the seasons. Right now ,I purchased a fall wreath that can last all the way through Thanksgiving..

All you do is simply wrap the ribbon around the rim of the wreath and tack it onto the back of the pane before hanging it on the wall. I chose not to paint the wood on my window because I liked the look of the white that was already on the pane. I also loved the way the white went with the wall color we have.

This is something that is so simple that anyone can do! There are so many things you can do with a window pane from painting it to adding pictures in each glass pane. I love all the possibilites that it brings!!

As for Jack and Charlie....They LOVE their new back yard so much that this is what they do when they are inside with us.

I really really promise that it will not be long until I post again!! I hope you didn't miss me too much :)

Changes.

I know...I know...I said I wouldn't go this long without blogging again and it's been almost a month!! But, I have excuses there have been so many life changes going on and our lives have been crazy busy!!

First there was my birthday and guess what Annie got for me?!!!

That's right....an Ipad...am I in Love?? YES!!! I can't put it down and it is soooo worth every penny if you are ever thinking about getting one!

Then came the 4th of July and we went to a family cookout at Krystina's followed by a day at the lake..Let me just say this...No one can cook as well as Krystina's mom Kimmy!!! I am still craving her BBQ and white sauce and it's been over a month since the holiday!!!

Matthew also participated in the Spirit of America golf tournament and Annie and I went out to watch him for several days! Besides the heat, I absolutely love watching him play golf!

The best thing that has happened is....Matthew asked me to marry him!!! I am so excited!! We are ENGAGED!!!!

It only took 4 years but it was well worth the wait!!!! We are planning a spring wedding hopefully in May of 2012! I cannot WAIT to spend the rest of my life with him!!!

It gets even better....except this part is a little scary for me!! We put an offer in on a house and we are hopefully moving!! The best part about this is we will be in the same town as most of Matthew's family and only 20 minutes from my family!!! My sister is also moving to Athens so I will get to see her and Kellan almost every week and that just makes my heart smile!!

With all that said I have been doing a little painting this weekend! I scored these two end tables at a thrift store this week for only $8.00 a piece!! It was such a deal I couldn't pass it up and I can't wait to use them in our new home!

Here is a photo shoot of the process..

                              Before:

First I sanded them really well and then I applied two coats of Primer.

I painted my tables with "Heavy Cream" from Olympic if you love cream this is the paint color you should choose it is perfect if you want to antique or if you just want a classic off white color for your projects!

Finished Tables (one of them)

I am so sorry it has been so long since posts and so much has happened to catch you all up on!! But, I just broke Matthew's computer charger and my computer!! Hopefully this doesn't mean that it will be forever until I post again!!!

Wordless Wednesday.

Weekend Trip to Atlanta:

So cold and our only source of warmth was napkins...
 ...and that didn't last...

We discovered Ikea is the GREATEST store of all time!!

 Sweet babies

Summer Weddings.

I recently found this candle holder that Matthew got me when we first started dating!! In two short weeks it is our 4 year anniversary!! It seems like just yesterday he was leaving every weekend for golf tournaments and would come back home with a surpise for Jack and I! I hated those days but I suurreeee do miss them also because I do LOVE surprises!

Tomorrow is Annie's birthday!! I know that some girls are "Daddy's girls" but I am probably the world's biggest "Mommy's girl!!" I am so thankful for everything she has taught me and for helping me become the person I am today. She is so supportive and would move mountains to help my brothers, sister, and I. I am so proud to call her my bestest friend in the whole entire world and I wish that every girl could experience the kind of relationship I have with my mom!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNIE!!!
You don't look a day over 20!

So much for wordless Wednesday!...

Quick Fix Earring Stand.

Lately I find myself becoming more and more frustrated with the fact that all my earrings are just getting thrown in a pile instead of hung in a particular spot where they are easy to find and where it doesn't take up minutes of my time untangling while I am trying to hurry and get ready in the mornings.

I have been thinking and thinking for weeks on something so simple that I could do to hang all my earrings on and while searching online one day I came across exactly what I needed.
For this project all the supplies you need are:

-Cheese grater (Yes you heard it right)
-Spray Paint
-4 Mug hooks (I call them ceiling hooks)
-4 Wooden Beads
-Hot Glue Gun

Simply spray paint your cheese grater in the any color you choose. I sprayed about 4 coats on the outside and only one on the inside and it took about 15 minutes since it is so hot outside the paint drys very quickly.

After spray painting I simply took my hot glue gun and glued the "mud hooks" facing outward on all four corners of the bottom of the grater.

It does not matter how messy your glue looks as long as it is sturdy since no one will be able to see this part of your jewelry holder.

Next you simply slide on a wood bead (or two) on the hooks. You may glue your hooks also for a better hold however I did not and it seems to work just fine!

This is literally what I like to call a "10 minute, 10 dollar design!" Here is the finished holder!

What did you do that was crafty this week??

Collegiate Onesie.

I am just going to give you all a quick run down on a simple but extremely cute baby gift that literally only takes about 30 minutes!

First of all, I want to state that in No Way am I an Alabama fan because if I do not make that very clear then I will be single by the end of this post! It is strictly LSU in this house!

A couple of months ago I appliqued some cute onesies for a friend of mine at work and she recently asked me if I would do one more so I figured why not make a blog post out of it also!!

All you need is:
-Onesie
-Fabric
-Stablizer
-Coordinating Thread
-Button
-Sewing Machine

Since the onesie I made is obviously for an Alabama fan I chose to do an elephant. I simply googled elephant templates, found the one I liked, and printed it out.

Turn your fabric to the wrong side facing up, place your template on the fabric and trace around it with a fabric mark-b-gone pen

This part of my tutorial is a little wrong as you will see later on I meant to face my template in the opposite direction of how I want it facing on the front of the onesie...So make sure you don't forget to do this! It is very important!

Here is where the stabilzer comes in and if you don't know what I am talking about don't worry, I took a picture for you!

You can find this at any fabric store and the price range varies. Annie happened to buy me a never-ending supply and I saw the price tag was $60.99 and yes that's a fortune to me but will last me for a year probably! You can find stabilizer for around $10.00 or $15.00 a roll at Jo-Ann's.

Depending on how your stablizer works (mine is iron on) you use this to make your applique more sturdy and MUCH easier to sew!

It is much easier to do this step BEFORE you cut out the applique.

After you have completed these steps you are ready to pin the fabric on your onesie (make sure you don't pin the front and back of the onesie together this could be very bad when you start to sew!!)

Now it's time to sew!!! The easiest part! Set your machine on the zig-zag setting and this is more to your preference of how you would like the width and length of the stitch. For me, I choose the largest number for the width and the smallest for the length!

This is where I get to show you my Machine!!! My Christmas present from Annie!! We got matching ones and I love it so much and it's so fancy and easy to use!! I strongly suggest buying this machine if you are in the market for a new sewing machine!

After you finish sewing simply iron over your applique one more time and then you are finished!! So cheap and cute!!

Also, I added a button for the eye of the elephant! This is just to add a little more detail. You could also do a bow with ribbon if it is for a girl!!

Charlie girl watched the whole thing from start to finish!! She is the perfect little helper and obviously likes being in my blog way more than Jack Jack!
